Mounties make arrest in 2015 death of mother

WINNIPEG — RCMP have made an arrest in the killing of a woman on a northern Manitoba reserve.

Crystal Andrews, who was 22, was from the Gods Lake First Nation and was found dead in an isolated area in November 2015.

The mother of two had been at a Halloween social in the community the night before. Michael William Okemow of Gods Lake is charged with second-degree murder. Okemow, 37, was arrested earlier this week in Winnipeg and is in custody.

Chief Supt. Mark Fisher says he hopes that the woman’s family can rest easier because of the arrest.
