IDEAS FOR DEALING WITH COVID-19

-

To the editor,

I have a couple of ideas I think should be examined to see if they could be of benefit to the public in this time of high risk.

First would be a number system for people who go to medical offices for attention.

You would register yourself using an intercom with the receptionist, then go back to your vehicle and wait for your number to be displayed. This would keep people from congregating in any number.

Second is examining patients in a negative air pressure glass booth with reach-through capability for medical personnel, in much the same way they work with medical hazardous materials in research.

The booth would contain high power UV light devices to decontaminate the booth and all medical devices, such as pressure cuffs and stethoscopes which would have to be modified, along with thermometers. This would be done between patients.

If there is a reason for further examination, there could be a more hands-on method used. This system would not only protect the medical professional and patient but would cut down on the number of disposable goods such as gowns, masks and gloves.

I am not an academic, just a person who likes to think.

Thanks and stay safe.
