Thorold troupe presents Office Hours

The Niagara Falls Review - - ENTERTAINMENT - JEN HARDY

Office Hours will have audience members howling by the end of the show, promises Thorold Community Theatre.

The comedy, written by Canada’s Norm Foster, will transport audiences to a Friday afternoon in six different offices in a big city, with six different stories that are somehow related.

“Leave your troubles at the door, come in and just be entertained for a couple of hours,” said Mac McGhie, who plays the role of Lloyd Penny in the performance coming to the community hall of Trinity United Church.

Lloyd’s wife, Rhonda, is portrayed by Teresa Wilson.

“People can relate (to the play), because it is real human life,” Wilson said.

McGhie, who has been with Thorold Community Theatre since 1990, appears on stage for the first time since 2012, after doing a lot of behind-the-scenes work.

Wilson, who came to Thorold Community Theatre in 2013 after moving from Mississauga to Welland, had never worked with McGhie on stage before. Recalling the audition, she said he was simply amazing. Knowing she wanted to audition for the role of Rhonda, she thought: “Oh, he would be the perfect husband.”

The relationships on stage come naturally, Wilson said.

To a big part, McGhie said, it can be chalked up to the camaraderie existing in the theatre company. Office Hours will be performed on Fridays March 24, 31 and April 7 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays March 25, April 1 and 8 at 8 p.m. and Sundays March 26 and April 2 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the box office at Haine Funeral Home and Chapel or at Jack Nash Fine Clothiers. Tickets can also be pre-ordered through the theatre at 905-6828779.
