Suspect sought after boy fights off attacker
Police are searching for a suspect after a 13-year-old Thorold boy used his scooter to fend off a man who attacked him. Niagara Regional Police say the boy, whom they have not identified, was walking with his scooter in the area of Clara and Taylor streets at about 6:45 p.m., Wednesday, when an unknown man believed to be 50 to 60 years old, approached him from behind and wrapped his arms around the boy. Police, who were informed about the assault at about 9:15 p.m. that evening, say the boy struggled and struck the man with his scooter, before fleeing the area uninjured. The suspect is described as a white man, about 50 to 60 years old, 180 lbs, with a shaggy red moustache, and wearing sunglasses and a grey mesh hat. A black truck was also seen in the area at the time, although police do not know if the vehicle was related to the incident.
