Police investigat­e death at Ball’s Falls

A 19-year-old Oakville man is dead after police say he jumped into the water at Ball’s Falls and did not resurface, Tuesday.

Niagara Regional Police, firefighte­rs and Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics were called to the conservati­on area in Lincoln at about 2:20 p.m.

An extensive search of the area was conducted by uniformed officers, Grimsby detectives and the marine and emergency task units. A marine unit diver located the man in the catch pool at the bottom of the falls, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are not releasing the identity of the man.

Although foul play is not suspected, police said they are continuing to investigat­e the incident with the coroner’s office.
