Guns, knives and beer stolen

OPP search­ing for sus­pects af­ter theft in War­wick Town­ship Mon­day

Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing af­ter a cache of weapons, jew­elry and other items were taken from a War­wick Town­ship home ear­lier this week.

Mon­day af­ter­noon a prop­erty in the 6000 block of Churchill Line was forcibly en­tered and ran­sacked, Lambton OPP said in a news re­lease Wed­nes­day.

Sev­eral shot­guns, ri­fles, two cross­bows, and a col­lec­tion of 50 knives – in­clud­ing hunt­ing knives and a ma­chete – were taken, po­lice said, along with an air com­pres­sor, cam­ou­flage-coloured over­alls and a hunt­ing coat, and two cases of beer.

Most of the long guns were par­tially dis­as­sem­bled, with some miss­ing key pieces, po­lice said, not­ing who­ever took the non-func­tion­ing weapons may try to sell or trade them.

Wit­nesses spot­ted a po­ten­tial sus­pect ve­hi­cle po­lice de­scribe as a 2002-2006 Chevro­let pick-up truck, with an ex­tended cab, black tool box in the bed of the truck, black fen­der flares, black rims and a loud muf­fler.
