Murder trial for trucker begins today
The trial of a Brampton truck driver charged with the murder of his wife is scheduled to begin Tuesday with jury selection in Sarnia Superior Court.
Sukhchain Singh Brar, 52, was charged following a January 2016 truck fire on Highway 402 near Sarnia. First responders were dispatched to the vehicle fire on Jan. 31, 2016, at about 3:15 a.m.
The body of Gurpreet K. Brar, 37, was found in the burnt westbound transport truck.
Following an examination of the woman’s body in Toronto by the office of Ontario’s chief coroner, Brar was charged by the OPP.
A routine publication ban on pre-trial proceedings remains in place.
