Man charged with Calvin Tobin’s death ap­pears in Clarenville court

Travis An­drew Fir­mage of Leth­bridge, 31, has been charged with caus­ing the death of Calvin Tobin.

Tobin was killed in a twove­hi­cle ac­ci­dent on the Tran­sCanada High­way just west of Clarenville on Aug. 1.

Tobin was the pas­sen­ger in a car trav­el­ling east. Fir­mage, who was driv­ing, crossed into the west­bound lane, where the ve­hi­cle col­lided with a trans­port truck.

Fir­mage is charged with im­paired driv­ing in re­la­tion to the in­ci­dent as well as with caus­ing in­jury to the driver of the trans­port truck.

Fir­mage has been re­leased and will re­turn to court in Clarenville Thurs­day, Aug. 24.
