Man charged with Calvin Tobin’s death ap­plies for le­gal aid

Fir­mage to ap­pear in court again Oct. 12

Travis Fir­mage has ap­plied for le­gal aid af­ter be­ing charged with caus­ing the death of 25-year-old Calvin Tobin while driv­ing im­paired.

Fir­mage ap­peared in court in Clarenville on Thurs­day, Aug. 24.

The pas­sen­ger of the ve­hi­cle, Tobin, was killed in a twove­hi­cle ac­ci­dent on the TCH just west of Clarenville on Aug. 1.

Fir­mage, who is from Leth­bridge, was driv­ing east when he crossed into the west­bound lane and col­lided with an on­com­ing trans­port truck.

Fam­ily mem­bers of Tobin were in at­ten­dance at court for what was ex­pected to be a plea day for Fir­mage.

He is sched­uled to ap­pear in court again on Thurs­day, Oct. 12.

This case was one of four sep­a­rate un­re­lated im­paired driv­ing ap­pear­ances in Clarenville court last Thurs­day.
