Four dead in tragic weekend collision
A child, a teenager, and two adults are dead following a two-vehicle collision Sunday on the TCH.
The RCMP says two SUVs collided near the Chapel Arm exit at about 5 p.m.
All three people in one of the SUVs — a 41-year-old man, a 35-year-old woman and an 11-year-old child — died in the accident. The 18-year-old driver of the other vehicle is also dead. According to a police report, they were all pronounced deceased at the scene.
A 16-year-old passenger in one of the SUVs was injured. He was brought to hospital in St. John’s.
The TCH between Long Harbour and Bellevue was blocked Sunday evening, freezing kilometres of traffic for hours in both directions as emergency crews responded to the accident.
The cause of the collision is currently under investigation.
