Election a no-go!
Clarenville acclaims mayor and council
CLARENVILLE, NL — After the nomination period ended last Wednesday evening, Aug. 30, for the upcoming municipal election in Clarenville, a mayor and six councillors were the only candidates who came forward. As a result, there will not be an election next month for the Town of Clarenville.
Incumbent Mayor Frazer Russell is unopposed and will serve a second term in the mayoral chair.
As for the councillors, three are returning: Bill Bailey, Heber Smith, and Paul Tilley.
There are three new councillors this term as well, making for a full chamber.
