Elec­tion a no-go!

Clarenville ac­claims mayor and coun­cil

CLARENVILLE, NL — Af­ter the nom­i­na­tion pe­riod ended last Wed­nes­day evening, Aug. 30, for the up­com­ing mu­nic­i­pal elec­tion in Clarenville, a mayor and six coun­cil­lors were the only can­di­dates who came for­ward. As a re­sult, there will not be an elec­tion next month for the Town of Clarenville.

In­cum­bent Mayor Frazer Rus­sell is un­op­posed and will serve a sec­ond term in the may­oral chair.

As for the coun­cil­lors, three are re­turn­ing: Bill Bai­ley, He­ber Smith, and Paul Til­ley.

There are three new coun­cil­lors this term as well, mak­ing for a full cham­ber.
