Bon­av­ista leads the re­gion with mu­nic­i­pal can­di­dates for elec­tion

Two to run for mayor, 12 for coun­cil seats

BON­AV­ISTA, N.L. — While many com­mu­ni­ties in the re­gion have been strug­gling to get a full host of can­di­dates for the up­com­ing mu­nic­i­pal elec­tion, the Town of Bon­av­ista is cer­tainly not go­ing to de­cide their coun­cil by ac­cla­ma­tion.

Two can­di­dates have of­fi­cially come for­ward to try for mayor of Bon­av­ista, while 12 oth­ers will cam­paign for the six coun­cil seats.

Bev Dyke and John Nor­man are the two may­oral can­di­dates.

Af­ter the elec­tion later this month, Bon­av­ista will have a new mayor for the first time in 20 years, af­ter Betty Fitzger­ald an­nounced she is step­ping down from the po­si­tion. For coun­cil, the 12 can­di­dates in­clude:
