Fund­ing an­nounced for fire truck in Bun­yan’s Cove

BUN­YAN’S COVE, NL — The Bun­yan’s Cove Fire Depart­ment has fund­ing for a new fire truck.

The pro­vin­cial govern­ment is in­vest­ing about $229,000 for a new tanker truck with a 1,500-gal­lon poly wa­ter tank and a 1,500-gal­lon alu­minum fold­ing frame por­ta­ble wa­ter tank.

Bon­av­ista MHA Neil King thanked ev­ery­one who worked hard to pro­cure fund­ing for the truck.

“The in­vest­ment in the fire ser­vices for this com­mu­nity will pro­vide se­cu­rity for res­i­dents and ben­e­fit the com­mu­nity for years to come,” he stated via a press re­lease.

Bud­get 2017 in­cludes an in­vest­ment of $1.88 mil­lion for the re­place­ment of fire pro­tec­tion ve­hi­cles and fire­fight­ing equip­ment pro­gram for 2017-18.

Joyce said govern­ment is com­mit­ted to pro­vid­ing the qual­ity fire­fight­ing equip­ment and fa­cil­i­ties to fire de­part­ments through­out the prov­ince.

“This new tanker truck will ben­e­fit res­i­dents and their fam­i­lies in the com­mu­nity of Bun­yan’s Cove, and it as­sist vol­un­teer fire­fight­ers to re­spond quickly in an emer­gency,” he stated.
