Port Rex­ton, Port Bland­ford, Terra Nova elect coun­cils

The polls closed last Tues­day, the bal­lots have been cast and counted, and the re­sults were fi­nal­ized.

Towns across the prov­ince held mu­nic­i­pal elec­tions, nam­ing new coun­cils and may­ors.

Three of these com­mu­ni­ties hap­pened to be Port Rex­ton, Port Bland­ford and Terra Nova.


The fol­low­ing seven can­di­dates were suc­cess­ful in their bids to be­come town coun­cil­lors, in or­der from most votes to least: the Bon­av­ista Penin­sula-Trin­ity/Pla­cen­tia Bay area that The Packet cov­ers.


In­cum­bent mayor Chad Hol­loway was pre­vi­ously con­firmed via ac­cla­ma­tion, but seven other can­di­dates com­peted for six coun­cil seats.

48 per cent of the pop­u­la­tion cast bal­lots, 206 of 426 el­i­gi­ble vot­ers.

The fol­low­ing are the win­ning can­di­dates with their num­ber of votes. There were five suc­cess­ful in­cum­bents and one new coun­cil­lor:
