Milton cidery and orchard project receives environmental approval
The Newfoundland Cider Company’s proposed project to open a cidery and apple orchard in Milton has been released from further environmental assessment, according to a bulletin from the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment issued last Tuesday.
It was approved with the condition that a minimum 30-meter naturally vegetated buffer along all watercourses, waterbodies and wetlands must be maintained to protect sensitive riparian and aquatic species and their habitat.
The orchard will be approximately five hectares and progressively developed. With the environmental approval, the company plans to begin construction of the cidery immediately.
The site will be serviced by existing roads and power lines.
