Transportation and Works fill potholes on Random Island
The Department of Transportation and Works has been conducting asphalt repairs on Random Island for the last few weeks, and anticipates the work to continue over the next several days.
On Sept. 18, Sept. 29, and Oct. 4, the department used a total of 6,480 kg of cold mix asphalt and 8,200 kg of hot mix asphalt.
The department said on Friday, Oct. 6, that it was conducting more work that same day, and expected to continue over the next few days, subject to factors such as weather and availability of asphalt.
Funding for the roadwork is provided under provincial government’s annual summer maintenance program, funded at approximately $22 million for 2017-18.
Residents of Random Island had taken to filling some of the pot holes themselves over the past months.
