Fifth annual seniors information fair on Oct. 19
Random Age-Friendly Communities Board is hosting its fifth annual Seniors’ Information Fair in Clarenville at the Clarenville Middle School on Oct. 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
We’ve seen this fair grow each year. In 2016, we saw about 175 seniors from the Clarenville region visit the 36 exhibitor booths during the day. We anticipate further growth this year.
Knowing that, getting timely, practical information to manage life and meet personal needs is vital for active aging, Random Age-Friendly Communities Board feels these Information Fairs are a very effective way of distributing public information to older adults.
The day will be filled with various businesses and organizations ready to share information on their products and services.
Seniors and their families will find valuable information on dental, eye care, financial matters, fitness and recreation, food safety, funeral arrangements, government programs, health, home services, insurance, legal, library services, medical alarms, nutrition, real estate, retirement homes, seniors’ groups, therapy services, transportation, and more.
In addition to the exhibit booths, two information sessions will take place—Mary Hynes of Newfoundland Funeral Solutions and Tony Rose of Fire Emergency Services NL.
We will continue with our book and puzzle exchange again this year. Everyone is encouraged to bring books and/or puzzles for exchange or to browse through the titles and puzzles and take one home. Any unclaimed books or puzzles will be donated to groups or organizations.
As usual, our seniors will not only enjoy the information offered by our exhibitors, but they will also enjoy a nice lunch and some great entertainment by Art & Austin.
At what age are you considered a senior? In many cases, anyone over 50 is classed as a senior. With this in mind, at this fair we hope to offer something for each visitor, regardless of age.
All seniors and their family members from the Clarenville region are invited to attend. Admission is free for everyone. The fair will take place in a scent-free Environment.
To register, call Brenda at 709-466-2870.
At the fair in 2016, seniors listen intently to a presentation on advanced health care directive given by Lana Park of Eastern Health.
Seniors dance to the great music of Art & Austin at the fourth annual Seniors’ Information Fair.
Clarenville Area Co-op has been one of our faithful exhibitors since our first Seniors’ Information Fair in 2013.
