Residents of Newfoundland and Labrador are being asked to identify sections of highways and bridges they think should be considered for upgrading in the provincial government’s five-year roads plan.

Most of the projects for 2018 – 75 per cent – have already been outlined, according to a news release from the Department of Transportation and Works.

The plan’s flexibility, however, allows for new projects to be added so that road conditions that have deteriorated more than anticipated in the past year and new issues identified by the public can be addressed in a timely manner.

“This consultation is an excellent opportunity for residents to let government know which road conditions and projects are most important to them so that we can consider them for the second year of our five-year plan,” said Transportation and Works Minister Steve Crocker.

It’s the second consecutive year the Department of Transportation and Works has consulted with people in the province to prioritize road improvement projects.

More than 560 submissions were submitted during the first consultation last year.

Participants will be asked to identify their region, route name and number and the nearest municipality or landmark, followed by the type of issue they are experiencing.

The form can be found at www.enga and will be open for input from Nov. 3-21. Government is also asking motorists impacted by this year’s night time road construction pilot project for feedback.
