Oil industry boon
The advent of the oil and gas industry in Newfoundland and Labrador was marked by many major events and milestones.
Most notably, two major oil platforms were built at Bull Arm fabrication site in Trinity Bay, Hibernia (completed in 1997) and Hebron (finished in 2017).
Both structures are still in operation on the Grand Banks, extracting offshore oil miles off the coast of Newfoundland.
