10 Years ago Stephen Pardy recognized by Governor General
Three years after Stephen Pardy waded into frigid waters off Bonavista to help save a woman from drowning, he received a certificate of commendation from the Governor General.

RCMP Corporal Curtis Ashford save a woman from drowning. Pardy doesn’t know how to swim but says he knew the beach well enough to know he would not be out of his depth. Ashford himself received the medal of bravery for his efforts. When he is not commuting to work in Alberta, Pardy serves on the volunteer fire department for Bonavista.
