Clarenville Lions Club is col­lect­ing used eye­glasses and used hear­ing aids at var­i­ous lo­ca­tions in Clarenville. These Eye­glasses and Hear­ing Aids are re­fur­bished and re­dis­tributed to peo­ple in need through­out the world.

The drop-off lo­ca­tions are: Clarenville Area Co-op; Cowan’s Op­ti­cal; Vogue Op­ti­cal; East Coast Eye

Care; O’Ma­hony Manor; Dr. G B Cross Memo­rial Hos­pi­tal; Ran­dom Square Mall and Eastern Health.

Terra Nova MHA Colin Hol­loway, on be­half of De­part­ment of Chil­dren, Se­niors and So­cial Devel­op­ment min­is­ter Lisa Demp­ster, presents a cheque to mem­bers of the Abil­ity Em­ploy­ment Cor­po­ra­tion (AEC). In ad­di­tion to the fund­ing an­nounce­ment for Clarenville Farm and Mar­ket on Fri­day, the min­istry also handed out two cheques: a grant of $2,457 to the Farm and Mar­ket for a “Happy Car­rots” pro­gram within the mar­ket; and a cheque for the AEC in the amount of $5,792 for a com­mu­nity gar­den.
