One of the four church buildings in the Bonavista Peninsula region deconsecrated and sold by the Anglican Church in recent months is not set to be repurposed into a residence, or torn down completely, but will continue on as a centre for worship within its community.

In Keels, Bonavista Bay, St. Phillips’ Anglican Church was purchased by the Vista Independent Baptist Church in Clarenville — the sale was finalized on Tuesday, Oct. 23.

In an interview with The Packet Baptist Pastor Les Chymist says the Clarenville Baptist Church has long had a connection with Keels, with people from the community traveling to Clarenville as part of their congregation.
