Charges in human trafficking probe
A 22-year-old city man and his teenage girlfriend face charges after a human trafficking investigation that began late last month.
That’s when investigators learned two people had coerced another local teenage girl they knew into creating an ad for sexual purposes and then having dates with other men, exchanging sexual services for money, city police said.
The activities took place between July and August and the money made by the victim was turned over to the co-accused, police said.
Investigators found a male suspect had made and distributed a video with sexual images of himself and his girlfriend to several people.
Warrants were issued and the male and female were arrested on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old man was charged with trafficking in persons under 18, procuring somenone under 18, material benefits from sexual services from someone under 18, making, printing, publishing or possessing for the purpose of publication child pornography, possession of child pornography, importing, distributing, selling or possessing for the purpose of distribution or sale any child pornography and fail to comply with the conditions of an undertaking.
An 18-year-old woman was charged with trafficking in persons under 18, procuring under 18 and material benefits from sexual services of someone under 18.
The co-accused were to appear in court Thursday.
Because the accused man is in a domestic relationship with the accused woman, whom is also a victim and a young person in the case, city police did not release the name of the co-accused to protect the identity of the woman and to comply with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, police said.
