An Ode to Joe Corrigan

-

A bank man by trade he went back to school; A firm handle on museum management he honed his tools. Starting in 2003 - Into our museum you brought your smarts; And brought in ideas and a brand new start. With your focus on revenue and attendance; You turned your sights to special events. We had some good years and some bad; Some summers where the sun was not to be had. New ventures were started to expand our reach; About living history our goal was to teach. New buildings became our projects of choice; The Jacquard Loom we housed and gave a new voice. For buildings we built like the David Mitchell workshop; Funding and sponsors were highly sought. In 2013 you faced health issues fast; But am happy to say you kicked cancer’s … butt! We’ve lost good people – gone way too fast; And we look back on them and a smile is cast. Awards and recognition we achieved such success; 2017 was seen as a year of great greatness. So as you wind up your career with us; Know that we are thankful but won’t make a big fuss. Because you helped build a staff oh such a great team; Who you have guided like a canoe down an adventurous stream. And so Joe Corrigan we wish you this; A retirement full of fun, restfulness and bliss!
