Total fire ban in city, county
A total fire ban is now in effect for all of Peterborough city and county.
As hotter than normal temperatures have continued all through July, there has been a high number of complaints from residents about open air burning, according to Peterborough Fire Services Deputy Chief Chad Brown. Open air burning is not permitted ever within the city, Brown states.
The exceptions to the rule are permitted appliances such as barbecues that burn propane or natural gas, firepit tables and fire bowls.
