Manslaughter charge laid in Bancroft killing

BANCROFT — A manslaughter charge has been laid by Bancroft OPP following an investigation into the death of a 69-yearold man after an alleged assault March 8. Judson Gunter was taken by paramedics to hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police have not released further details about the incident. Timothy Gunter, 42, of Bancroft has now been charged with manslaughter, police said Wednesday. He had earlier been charged with assault causing bodily harm and breach of probation. Police had been called to the scene around 9 p.m. He was arrested at about 4:30 a.m. March 9 after a search involving an OPP emergency response team, an OPP canine unit and an OPP helicopter.
