DeBrouwer stones Ea­gles

Evan DeBrouwer made 26 saves to earn his third ca­reer BCHL shutout Friday and keep the Prince Ge­orge Spruce Kings un­de­feated this sea­son.

Their 5-0 win over the vis­it­ing Sur­rey Ea­gles at Rolling Mix Con­crete Arena so­lid­i­fied the Kings’ hold on first place in the BCHL Main­land Di­vi­sion as they im­proved to 2-0-1 in front of a crowd of 862.

Patrick Cozzi and Ben Brar, the game’s first star, each picked up a goal and an as­sist to pace the Spruce Kings’ at­tack. Kyle John­son, Ben Pois­son and Ethan de Jong also scored.

Alex Ho­rawski took the loss in the Sur­rey nets, stop­ping 27 of 32 shots. DeBrouwer, ac­quired in an off­sea­son trade from the Nanaimo Clip­pers, was un­der siege in the third pe­riod as the Ea­gles out­shot the Kings 12-1.

The Kings went 1-for-6 on the power play while Sur­rey fin­ished 0-for-4 with the man ad­van­tage.

It was the first loss of the sea­son for the Ea­gles (1-1-1).

The teams meet again tonight at Rolling Mix Con­crete Arena. Game time is 7 p.m.
