The Prince George Spruce Kings needed to find another gear late in the game Saturday but the gas tank ran dry.

The Wenatchee Wild scored two unanswered goals in the second period and rolled to a 3-2 victory over the Spruce Kings Saturday in B.C. Hockey League ac- tion in Wenatchee, Wash.

Needing a goal to tie it in a scoreless third period, the road-weary Kings were outshot 13-3 in the final 20 minutes and failed to make a dent on Wild goalie Austin Park.

Jasper Weatherby, Jacob Moody and A.J. Vanderbeck, with the game-winner, scored for Wenatchee (13-7-0-1, fourth in Interior Division).

Ben Poisson and Patrick Cozzi were the Kings marksmen. Blake Hayward picked up his first point since joining the Kings in a trade this week from Coquitlam, assisting on Cozzi’s seventh of the season, which gave the Kings a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.

Evan DeBrouwer took the loss in net for the Kings, making 24 saves as his team was outshot 27-25.

Prince George went on to lose 4-3 to the host West Kelowna Warriors on Sunday. Kyle Johnson, Dustin Manz and Ben Brar scored for the Kings in that game.

The Kings (11-9-2-3, fourth in Mainland Division) started their three-game tour of the Interior Division Friday with a 3-1 win over the Trail Smoke Eaters.
