THE SPECIAL AWARDS

-

Former The Guess Who frontman Burton Cummings is this year’s Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee and the first winner whose award will be placed in Calgary’s new National Music Centre — presumably next to an old Stampeders poster and one of Loverboy frontman Mike Reno’s smelly headbands. El Burto is expected to get his award during Sunday’s broadcast and be celebrated with a musical tribute by several artists. Meanwhile, Arcade Fire got the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award Saturday for its charitable work on behalf of Haiti and other causes, while trail-blazing radio executive Rosalie Trombley took home the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award for a career that saw her nicknamed “the girl with the golden ears.” Which also happens to be the worst Bond movie ever.
