Nanaimo RCMP say they’ve found the body of missing Nanaimo teen Makayla Chang and believe she was murdered.

Chang was last seen in Nanaimo on March 17. She was reported missing by her family on March 22.

Police are now investigating Chang’s death as a homicide.

In early April, police located Steven Bacon, the 53-year-old man believed to have been with 16-yearold Chang when she disappeared.

Her grandmother told CTV News that Chang spent time with Bacon on and off but that she warned her against accepting gifts from him.

Meanwhile, the police searched Bacon’s Nanaimo home, a basement suite, more than once.

According to the Victoria Times Colonist, in the days following her disappearance, police received hundreds of tips.

Police said Chang’s family “is asking for privacy during this difficult time.”
