Praise for speaker Plecas’s plea for respectful debate

The Province - - EDITORIAL -

Congratulations and great respect to Darryl Plecas, the speaker of the B.C. Legislature, who wants to foster a more dignified and respectful tone in the house.

Shame on Liberal MLA Mike de Jong for whining that name calling is a tradition, as though we should somehow honour such childish behaviour. By heckling and insulting the speaker, the Liberals continue to define themselves as bullies, acting like pack animals instead of leaders or public servants.

B.C. voters tried to send them a message in May, but it looks like the Liberals still don’t get it. We want good government, not spoiled aggressive elitists who ignore the needs and goals of the people of our province. Michelle Laurie, Langley
