Austin Vetterl, men’s hockey
The one-time Vancouver Giant leads the Thunderbirds in goals (seven) and points (11). The Surrey native, who’s in his third year, already is just one goal off his season total from 2016-17. Vetterl, who also played in the WHL with the Kootenay Ice, sits seventh in Canada West scoring and is tied for the league lead with four power-play tallies. The 5-41 T-Birds are finally back on home ice for the first time in four weeks, hosting the 4-5-1 Mount Royal Cougars this Friday and Saturday at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.
