Chilliwack youth coach charged with sex offences
A Chilliwack man who has been involved with youth sports in his community since 2005 appeared in court Wednesday to answer to sexual assault charges.
Richard Codie Hindle, 35, was arrested for offences dating back to 2011, police said in a news release.
Hindle has been involved with youth sports in Chilliwack since 2005, coaching basketball at elementary and middle schools, as well as a local leisure centre. He has overseen overnight programs, camping trips and a sports academy.
An investigation into Hindle’s conduct was launched after sexual assault allegations were reported to authorities early in 2016.
Hindle, also known as Codie Anderson, has been charged with one count of sexual interference with a minor, but police believe there may be additional victims and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
