B.C. ranks among top 50 ‘ultimate bucket list’ destinations
The west coast is the best coast — or at least, it’s in the top 50.
British Columbia is ranked 32nd among the top 50 best “bucket list experiences” in a new travel poll by Flight Network, thanks to the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
Titled The World’s Ultimate Bucket List, the ranking rounds up a number of “hidden gem locations” and activities from around the world based on the responses from more than 800 travel journalists, agencies, bloggers and editors.
B.C. and Alberta share the 32nd ranking, as the Canadian Rockies occupy parts of both provinces.
The ranking cities the “epic mountain views” and “deep, turquoise-filled canyons and lakes” as being some of the reasons why the Rockies are a bucket-list item for travellers.
The Rockies cover approximately 180,000 square kilometres and stretch from Liard River in northern B.C., down to the U.S. border.
The top five experiences on the “bucket list” are, in order from first to fifth, taking a wildlife safari in Africa; embarking on an expedition to Antarctica, seeing the Northern Lights, a trek to Machu Picchu, and sailing the Galapagos Islands.
