King street clo­sure

Coun­cil ap­proved the clo­sure of a por­tion of King’s St., al­though not in a way that af­fects traf­fic. A por­tion of a res­i­dent’s home is on land the Re­gion of Queens owned, and the res­i­dent had asked to have the deed to that por­tion of the land.

Records de­stroyed

Coun­cil ap­proved the de­struc­tion of old records that are no longer needed by the Re­gion of Queens. Mu­nic­i­pal Clerk Chris McNeill will carry out the de­struc­tion

Salt ten­der awarded

The ten­der for the truck­ing of bulk salt was awarded to Don­ald Whynot Truck­ing Ltd. for the 2009/2010 win­ter sea­son. The cost will be $37.40 per met­ric tonne plus HST, which is a $1.55 de­crease from last sea­son.

Arena ad rates

Coun­cil ap­proved the rates for ad­ver­tis­ing pan­els at the Queens Memo­rial Arena. From Jan. un­til Aug. 2010, a 4x8ft is $100, 4x12 is $150 and 4x16 is $200. The fol­low­ing year it will in­crease to $150, $225 and $300 re­spec­tively. Ad­ver­tis­ing on the Zam­boni will cost $250 per side.

Leefe and Coun­cil­lor Owen Ham­lin to at­tend the Tourism In­dus­try As­so­ci­a­tion of Nova Sco­tia sum­mit tak­ing place in Hal­i­fax from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.

Vi­o­lence Preven­tion

Coun­cil voted to adopt a Vi­o­lence Preven­tion Plan for the Re­gion of Queens Mu­nic­i­pal­ity work­place. This in­volved a haz­ard as­sess­ment of all mu­nic­i­pal work­places.
