Cuts to education hypocritical

The Queens County Advance - - EDITORIAL -

Mr. Premier I’m at a loss for words. First you order across the board education cuts for all School Boards. Then when the school boards initiate program/teacher/librarian cuts you complain where they are cutting eg Chignecto Board. What’s up? Didn’t your government cut funding leaving the boards no choice to cut workers?

You are, sir, a hypocrite to say the least. Then, as premier, you order a school be built in your riding, despite no recommendation from the school board. What’s up? Where’s the austerity program for Cole Harbour? Crass politics!

How can voters take your government seriously when you hand out “gifts” of close to $400 million to three companies...bowater (Resolute), New Page and Irving. At the same time you reduce health and education funding. Thereby reducing good paying jobs in rural Nova Scotia. I might add a vast majority of these jobs are held by women. Speaking of the $400 million in gifts to corporations...if no gifts had been made Nova Scotia would be in a surplus this year and no cuts would be necessary for health and education.

Its time Mr. Dexter to stop playing loose and free with tax payers money by “gifting” national and multi national corporations. Pay attention to the needs of Nova Scotia school children and all citizens re health care. Stop being our Stephen Harper. Stop reforming our province to mirror a republican state.
