Sold! Veinot’s Footwear will be going to a new owner
Owner Fred Lohnes has been trying to sell the property for two years
Many residents in downtown Liverpool were happy to see a big “Sold” sign on Veinot’s Footwear this week.
The owner, Fred Lohnes, has been trying to sell the shoe store for almost two years.
Now, he says, he’s just waiting to sign the final papers so the new owner can take over.
Lohnes says he’s not aware of who bought the business, or if he does, he won’t say.
He says he doesn’t know when the closing date is for sure either.
“If it all goes through it will be a real relief,” he says.
He says in all that time, he’s only had one day off a week.
Now, he says, he plans to just stay home and help his wife.
“Try not to kill each other,” he says.
The 75-year-old resident says the only time he didn’t either work at the store or own it was when he was in the army,
“I’m looking forward to it,” he says.
The original asking price for the store was $140,000. Since then, the price dropped substantially to $49,000 for the store and the three-storey building.
