TISS Pi­rates re­sults at Guilder­land

The TISS Pi­rates had some solid stand­outs at the Guilder­land Cross Coun­try In­vi­ta­tional in Tawasen­tha Park in New York last week­end. The an­nual race typ­i­cally kicks off the cross-coun­try sea­son for the Pi­rates. TISS placed sec­ond over­all as a team in the 2.86-mile girls large var­sity race with Lily Meek start­ing the sea­son nicely by plac­ing sec­ond in­di­vid­u­ally with a time of 18:38.62. Other run­ners con­tribut­ing to the Pi­rates silver medal as a team in­cluded Claire Cush­ing in sixth with a time of 19:23.92; Rachel Bray­ton in ninth with a time of 20:28.25; Abby Lin­ton in 14th with a time of 21:58.46; Ju­lia Dil­lon in 15th with a time of 22:15.09; Abby Jones in 17th with a time of 23:21.47; and Mered­ith O’Con­nor in 20th with a time of 25:09.88. Grade 10 Mason Jones led the way for TISS in the 2.86-mile boys large var­sity race when he crossed the fin­ish line at 16:06.66 to place 12th and helped the Pi­rates earn a fourth-place spot over­all. Also earn­ing points for TISS in the race was Cole Lid­low in 24th with a time of 17:07.94; Ethan Craw­ford in 26th with a time of 17:16.38; David Gill in 30th with a time of 17:56.30; Ethan Givogue 35th with a time of 18:12.95; and Carter Ra­fuse and Ai­dan Van Beek hold­ing off in 41st and 42nd, re­spec­tively, with times of 27:39.46 and 27:40.22. TISS also fin­ished fourth over­all as a team in the 2.86-mile boys ju­nior var­sity run with Cle­ment Deco­lasse and Sydney Geue­lesse lead­ing the charge in 43rd and 44th places with times of 18:33.99 and 18:34.74. Also con­tribut­ing to the Pi­rates suc­cess in­cluded Ai­dan York in 53rd place with a time of 19:01.55; Dayne Car­ren in 60th with a time of 19:18.52; Ed­win Mooney in 63rd with a time of 19:44.61; Tan­ner Gib­son in 65th with a time of 19:47.23; and Ri­ley Lake in 74th with a time of 19:59.58. The Pi­rates again fin­ished fourth over­all as a team in the 1.7-mile boys fresh­man race with Grade 9 Matt Wor­den put­ting on a strong per­for­mance by plac­ing 12th with a time of 10:09.19. Also con­tribut­ing to the Pi­rates plac­ing was Bron­sen Greaves in 15th with a time of 10:31.76; Ryan Givogue in 25th with a time of 10:53.22; Coul­son Dous­ley in 30th with a time of 11:02.97; Se­bas­tian Rob­bi­lard in 33rd with a time of 11:20.26; Gar­rett Hough in 34th with a time of 11:22.99; and Tris­tan Nose­wor­thy in 35th with a time of 11:25.01. Re­gan Bathurst was the fastest Pi­rate in the 2.86-mile girls ju­nior var­sity race by plac­ing fifth with a time of 22:14.74. TISS didn’t have enough en­tries to earn a team score, but other re­sults in the event in­cluded Chiari Bondi in 28th with a time of 26:13.15 and Gabby Blake in 44th with a time of 33:42.65. Pi­rates’ Teighan Wal­lace started her high school cross-coun­try ca­reer very nicely by fin­ish­ing the 1.7-mile girls fresh­man race in fifth place with a time of 11:40.40. TISS didn’t have enough en­tries to earn a team score in that event as well, but other re­sults in the race in­cluded Pay­ton Barkley in 13th with a time of 12:58.31 and Leanne Kin­lin in 28th with a time of 16:48.56. The next race on the Pi­rates cross-coun­try sched­ule is the Trin­ity Har­rier In­vi­ta­tional in Port Hope on Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 20.
