TISS Pirates results at Guilderland
The TISS Pirates had some solid standouts at the Guilderland Cross Country Invitational in Tawasentha Park in New York last weekend. The annual race typically kicks off the cross-country season for the Pirates. TISS placed second overall as a team in the 2.86-mile girls large varsity race with Lily Meek starting the season nicely by placing second individually with a time of 18:38.62. Other runners contributing to the Pirates silver medal as a team included Claire Cushing in sixth with a time of 19:23.92; Rachel Brayton in ninth with a time of 20:28.25; Abby Linton in 14th with a time of 21:58.46; Julia Dillon in 15th with a time of 22:15.09; Abby Jones in 17th with a time of 23:21.47; and Meredith O’Connor in 20th with a time of 25:09.88. Grade 10 Mason Jones led the way for TISS in the 2.86-mile boys large varsity race when he crossed the finish line at 16:06.66 to place 12th and helped the Pirates earn a fourth-place spot overall. Also earning points for TISS in the race was Cole Lidlow in 24th with a time of 17:07.94; Ethan Crawford in 26th with a time of 17:16.38; David Gill in 30th with a time of 17:56.30; Ethan Givogue 35th with a time of 18:12.95; and Carter Rafuse and Aidan Van Beek holding off in 41st and 42nd, respectively, with times of 27:39.46 and 27:40.22. TISS also finished fourth overall as a team in the 2.86-mile boys junior varsity run with Clement Decolasse and Sydney Geuelesse leading the charge in 43rd and 44th places with times of 18:33.99 and 18:34.74. Also contributing to the Pirates success included Aidan York in 53rd place with a time of 19:01.55; Dayne Carren in 60th with a time of 19:18.52; Edwin Mooney in 63rd with a time of 19:44.61; Tanner Gibson in 65th with a time of 19:47.23; and Riley Lake in 74th with a time of 19:59.58. The Pirates again finished fourth overall as a team in the 1.7-mile boys freshman race with Grade 9 Matt Worden putting on a strong performance by placing 12th with a time of 10:09.19. Also contributing to the Pirates placing was Bronsen Greaves in 15th with a time of 10:31.76; Ryan Givogue in 25th with a time of 10:53.22; Coulson Dousley in 30th with a time of 11:02.97; Sebastian Robbilard in 33rd with a time of 11:20.26; Garrett Hough in 34th with a time of 11:22.99; and Tristan Noseworthy in 35th with a time of 11:25.01. Regan Bathurst was the fastest Pirate in the 2.86-mile girls junior varsity race by placing fifth with a time of 22:14.74. TISS didn’t have enough entries to earn a team score, but other results in the event included Chiari Bondi in 28th with a time of 26:13.15 and Gabby Blake in 44th with a time of 33:42.65. Pirates’ Teighan Wallace started her high school cross-country career very nicely by finishing the 1.7-mile girls freshman race in fifth place with a time of 11:40.40. TISS didn’t have enough entries to earn a team score in that event as well, but other results in the race included Payton Barkley in 13th with a time of 12:58.31 and Leanne Kinlin in 28th with a time of 16:48.56. The next race on the Pirates cross-country schedule is the Trinity Harrier Invitational in Port Hope on Wednesday, September 20.
