No mention of Thanksgiving

The Recorder & Times (Brockville) - - OPINION -

i read and reread our little local paper saturday, Oct. 7. i was surprised and disappointed and even disgusted to find no mention anywhere of thanksgiving.

What a dreadful omission. We live in one of the finest and safest countries in the world. We are free to think, speak and disagree with government policies without fear of imprisonment and torture as well as so many other blessings bestowed upon us.

i hope the recorder and times has the courage to print this letter. i feel certain that (former managing editor) derek Gordanier and (former photographer and reporter) darcy cheek would not have failed to make some reference to this yearly celebration of thanksgiving.

Perhaps is has become just another holiday without the thought or thanks of its true meaning. Gloria Mackenzie Brockville
