Cel­e­brat­ing lo­cal ex­cel­lence

The Brockville and District Cham­ber of Com­merce held its an­nual Awards of Ex­cel­lence gala at the Me­mo­rial Cen­tre hall on Thurs­day night. The of­ten hu­mor­ous, some­times poignant evening cel­e­brated the com­mu­nity’s best and bright­est and struck an op­ti­mistic tone about Brockville’s fu­ture de­spite the chal­lenges ahead. And as al­ways, the hall and its oc­cu­pants were dressed to the nines.

Some win­ners brought large num­bers of peo­ple to the stage, in­clud­ing Busi­ness of the Year Board­walk Dental.

Lynda Ca­vanagh, com­mu­nity co­or­di­na­tor at the Brockville and Area Spe­cial Olympics, re­acts with de­light at her or­ga­ni­za­tion win­ning the Com­mu­nity Ex­cel­lence Award.

The Thou­sand Is­lands Jazz Trio, from left Doug Dil­lon, Alan Og­borne and Roger Wooller, pro­vide en­ter­tain­ment dur­ing din­ner.
