The Recorder & Times (Brockville) - - SPORTS -

The Brockville Blazers put their stamp on the 24th Annual Chris Paulin Memorial Tournament, held in Kanata, last weekend by claiming four medals at the event. At the top of the Brockville heap was the major atom girls and major midget girls (shown above) getting gold medals, while the major bantam girls won silver and the major atom boys took home bronze. The major midget girls Blazers swept through the three games they played in the top AA/AAA division before taking down the Nepean Blue Devils in the high-scoring 53-51 gold-medal game. The major atom girls Blazers also swept through their competition with four consecutive wins before doubling up the Gatineau Phenix 50-23 in the gold -medal final. The major bantam girls Blazers earned their way to the final with a 3-1 record before losing a nail-biter 40-37 to the Gloucester Wolverines in the championship. The major atom boys Blazers finished out their tournament with a pair of wins and took down the Kingston Impact in back-to-back matchups to earn the bronze medal. The major midget boys Blazers were the only Brockville squad to not win a medal at the tournament and lost all four of their games, despite the local team scoring 50-plus points in two of the matchups.
