The Recorder & Times (Brockville) - - NEWS -

A Toronto woman driving a stolen car on Highway 401 with a stash of cannabis handy tried to flee from police on Thursday. Leeds OPP got a call at 11:15 p.m. about an eastbound car on the 401 that turned out to have been stolen from the York Region. When the Leeds OPP tried to stop it, the driver took off but other OPP vehicles pulled it over farther down the highway. Laila Bhagwandat, 27, faces a raft of criminal charges, including possession of a stolen motor vehicle, dangerous driving, flight from police, breach of probation and possession of breaking-and-entering tools. Under the Highway Traffic Act and the Cannabis Act, she is also charged with stunt driving, driving with no licence and with driving a motor vehicle with cannabis readily available.
