A sunny July afternoon and deep blue waters of the bay were the backdrop for the unveiling of the 1929 Tidal Wave/Tsunami Memorial, which claimed the lives of 27 Burin Peninsula residents. Three storyboards also comprise the monument. Three long time residents of Port au Bras who experienced the disaster joined Burin councillors in the unveiling. From left are: Coun. Shane Foote, Chesley Abbott, Lottie Matthews, Coun. Ross Pitcher, Coun. Howard Lundrigan and Elizabeth Clarke.
