RCMP present Klondike cheques
This year, the RCMP raised just over $53,000 during its annual Klondike Night fundraiser.
The money will be divided between the Children’s Wish Foundation and the Air Cadet League of NL.
Each charity received a cheque for $26,575 yesterday at the RCMP White Hills headquarters. RCMP Commanding Officer Assistant Commissioner Bill Smith, Insp. Leigh DesRoches and representatives from the charities being supported financially were present.
The RCMP Klondike Night is held every year at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Headquarters in St. John’s. Approximately 1,000 people attend each year for an evening of live music, a buffet supper, silent auction and gambling casino.
This was the 27th such presentation and to date the Klondike committee has turned over approximately $750,000 to 36 charities within Newfoundland and Labrador.
