Never about taking on Douglas

The Southern Gazette - - EDITORIAL -

“There’s no question there’s lots of issues moving forward, and I’m not big enough to say I think I’ve got all the answers or all the solutions, but I’m just looking for an opportunity to work together,” he said.

Parsons said he has known Douglas for a long time and thanked him for his service.

He said it was never about taking on Douglas, a respected educator in the area for 30 years – including a stint as president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association (NLTA) – before being elected to the board in 2008.

Parsons had his mind on running for the board for some time and said Douglas was non-committal about his plans when he spoke to him last spring.
