No increases in St. Lawrence Budget
The Town of St. Lawrence approved a balanced budget of $1,342,000 for 2017.
Council brought forth the budget in a special meeting held Dec 19.
Mayor Paul Pike said this year there will be no change in the town residential, commercial or business Tax.
“Our approach to effective fiscal management strategies, and ensuring that we don’t over spend in areas is something we are very proud of,” said Pike.
He added that with Canada Fluorspar Inc. now in the community it has provided the town with increased tax revenue.
Under the 2017 budget the town will continue to pay the waste disposal fee for residents at a total cost of $82,000.
The Town has also approved a number of municipal infrastructure projects; upgrades on Pollux Crescent. facility for the purpose of salt and sand. sub-division to be called Laurentian Estates. grounds for the St. Lawrence Volunteer Fire Department.
