No in­creases in St. Lawrence Bud­get

The Town of St. Lawrence ap­proved a bal­anced bud­get of $1,342,000 for 2017.

Coun­cil brought forth the bud­get in a spe­cial meet­ing held Dec 19.

Mayor Paul Pike said this year there will be no change in the town res­i­den­tial, com­mer­cial or busi­ness Tax.

“Our ap­proach to ef­fec­tive fis­cal man­age­ment strate­gies, and en­sur­ing that we don’t over spend in ar­eas is some­thing we are very proud of,” said Pike.

He added that with Canada Fluorspar Inc. now in the com­mu­nity it has pro­vided the town with in­creased tax rev­enue.

Un­der the 2017 bud­get the town will con­tinue to pay the waste dis­posal fee for res­i­dents at a to­tal cost of $82,000.

The Town has also ap­proved a num­ber of mu­nic­i­pal in­fra­struc­ture projects; up­grades on Pol­lux Cres­cent. fa­cil­ity for the pur­pose of salt and sand. sub-di­vi­sion to be called Lau­ren­tian Es­tates. grounds for the St. Lawrence Vol­un­teer Fire Depart­ment.
