Tibb’s Eve matinee and Food Drive: helping others at Christmas
Members of Fidelity Lodge #5 in Grand Bank hosted their 22nd annual Tibb’s Eve Matinee and Food Drive Dec. 17 at the Masonic Hall in Grand Bank.
The community came out to enjoy the music and Christmas joy but more importantly they came out to give back to the community, through freewill offer- ings and donations of food items.
In addition to food items, both the Burin Peninsula Ministerial (Southern Division) and the Grand Bank-Fortune Community Care Centre received $775 each. Worshipful master Woody Hickman made the presentations.
To sweeten the pot, Harvey Brenton presented $100 to the ministerial association on behalf of Atlantic Chapter No. 4. Adding to that, Frank Dolimount passed over $200 to community care centre on behalf of the Boot Shine Club.
Hickman explained the annual event is a goodwill gesture and outreach to the community to benefit those in need.
He thanked the local musicians who provided the entertainment as well as those who turned out and generously donated to the event.
