Book tax speaks volumes about priorities

The Southern Gazette - - EDITORIAL - Anthony Rockel Placentia

In a breathtakingly stupid move that has no doubt made us the laughingstock of the developed and developing world, the Dwight Ball government has imposed a 10 per cent tax on books. Our government implemented this tax-grab with amazing alacrity, but when critics called for a similar tax on junk food, our fearless leaders whined about the overwhelming complexities of such a task.

With a tax on books, but none on junk food, Dwight and his min- ions have unveiled their unique vision statement for this province: “A wide arse and a narrow mind.”
