St. Lawrence cadet headed to Hong Kong
Travis Perrot departs this summer for cultural exchange
ST. LAWRENCE, NL — CO1 Travis Perrot of St. Lawrence has been selected to travel to Hong Kong as part of a cultural exchange through the cadet organization.
“It is an international exchange that cadets get to choose from around the world,” explained Perrot.
“You can choose from different places. I applied for three different places and lucky enough, I got picked for Hong Kong.”
Perrot added that he had also applied for trips to the United States and Japan.
Perrot said he did some research on the locations he was interested in applying for.
“I looked through the pictures (of the) places on Google,” he said. “I picked my top three.” Perrot is excited for the trip. “It didn’t really kick in yet because it’s not close enough I guess, but I’m getting really excited,” he said.
Perrot leaves Newfoundland the first week in August, and will spend two weeks in Hong Kong.
During their time in Hong Kong, the cadets will get to take part in some local celebrations.
“I (was) told the other day that we’re participating in a Canadian war (memorial) over in Hong Kong,” he noted.
Travis Perrot has been selected to take part in a cultural exchange trip through the cadet program. During the annual Cadet inspection last weekend he was awarded the Royal Canadian Legion Medal of Excellence. It was presented to him by Legionnaire Kevin Flannigan.
