Grand Bank Day cel­e­bra­tions

It was a fun-filled day in Grand Bank on Aug. 5 as cit­i­zens came out in large num­bers to cel­e­brate Grand Bank Day at the mu­nic­i­pal build­ing park­ing lot.

The day started with a tra­di­tional break­fast at the Par­tanna Au­di­to­rium, fol­lowed by the Perge Cup soc­cer game.

For the mid day meal, pea soup, pork cakes and a dessert lunch was served at the Ma­sonic Hall.

Af­ter­noon ac­tiv­i­ties in­cluded dancers, lo­cal entertainment, con­ces­sions booths and tra­di­tional food.

The day con­cluded with the out­door fi­nale dance at the town hall park­ing lot with mu­sic by Good Time Char­lie and the Hound­dogs.

The Perge Cup was a big suc­cess with two teams of for­mer Gee Bees play­ers fac­ing off in the Perge cup IX soc­cer game in mem­ory of long-time Gee Bee Perry Her­ridge. The Grand Bank Rovers were one of the bands per­form­ing in the af­ter­noon – (from left) Dave Nose­wor­thy, Chris Em­ber­ley, Josh Par­sons, Todd Bursey and John Saun­ders.

A large crowd turned out for the af­ter­noon of fun.

The Rovers moved Nash Kelly to put off his one-man show.

Rhonda Scott’s dancers en­ter­tained at the fes­ti­val cel­e­bra­tions.

Ciara Os­mond tried her hand at the roll-a-ball game.

Blayze Hil­lier was ex­cited with the in­flat­able toy he re­ceived at the fes­ti­val.
